Sherief Reda Has Been Named One Of 11 RI Innovators

    None

Not sure where to look for innovation in 2017? The Providence Journal recommends Sherief Reda of Brown University's School of Engineering, who shares a secondary joint appointment with the Department of Computer Science (Brown CS). They've just named him a 2017 RI Innovator for his work with reconfigurable computing and embedded smart vision systems.

"Rhode Islanders with big ideas," they write, "are finding new ways to develop products, devices, applications, computer models, methods and policies that are solving problems in business, education, the arts, government and health care. The changes will strengthen the economy, improve schools and better the quality of life."

Sherief, who has recently won a $50,000 grant from the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation's Innovation Vouchers program for work with iris-scanning cameras and related software, joins trailblazers from areas as diverse as sustainable energy, furniture design, and epidemiology.
