Benjamin LeVeque, now a Senior Software Engineer at Imagen Technologies, remembers his time in the Brown CS Master's degree program as something special. "Brown CS is exceptional in many ways: fantastic faculty, interesting (not merely resume-building) research opportunities, a thoughtfully evolving curriculum," he says. "As a Master's student, I continued to be impressed by the level of cooperation between faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergrads. The Department felt like a group of enthusiastic people learning together."

Today, Brown University's Department of Computer Science announced that thanks to a new initiative, its Master of Science in Computer Science program will be accessible to some students who otherwise might not have been able to participate. Beginning with the Fall, 2022 semester, Brown CS will make available a number of merit-based, full-tuition scholarships to support the Department's diversity and inclusion goals. All admitted applicants will be automatically considered for them, with no additional application needed.

"We've heard from many graduates like Ben that our Master's program was life-changing," says Department Chair Ugur Çetintemel, "and we want to make sure that this opportunity is available to as many students as possible. Reaching people from historically underrepresented groups in our field is one of our highest priorities, and these new scholarships will have an immediate effect. We're very excited by the impact that they'll have on the next generation of computer scientists and our discipline."

Brown CS is currently accepting Master's program applications for Fall, 2022 entry, and the deadline is February 1. To learn more, click here, and to apply, click here.
